our curriculum

Wild Preschool combines academics, life skills, and emotional growth through an integrated outdoor learning approach.

Play-Based Learning
Play is at the heart of our program. Children develop imagination, social skills, coordination, and problem-solving abilities through child-led, open-ended play. We encourage risky play in a safe environment, helping children build confidence and resilience.

Academic Exploration
We weave language arts, math, science, and social studies into outdoor experiences, using Houston’s forests, ponds, and meadows as our classroom. Lessons align with seasonal changes and children’s natural curiosity to inspire discovery and inquiry.

Life Skills & Resilience
Outdoor learning builds independence and adaptability. Children learn to assess risks, navigate challenges, and develop practical skills such as shelter-building, plant identification, and foraging games.

Relationships & Emotional Growth
We use trust-based mentorship, growth-mindset language, and positive discipline to meet each child’s emotional and developmental needs. Small class sizes allow for meaningful relationships and individual support.

Mindfulness in Nature
We create space for children to slow down, observe, and fully engage their senses, fostering focus, gratitude, and a deeper connection to their surroundings. Activities like storytelling circles, reflection time, and sensory exploration support emotional balance.

Community Connections
Through place-based learning, we help children build ties to the local environment and human communities. We emphasize teamwork, collaboration, and respect for others, helping children feel rooted in their surroundings.
